Who We Are

5$Movement came together as a collective during the Fall of 2023, hosting monthly improv jams/open rehearsals to bring the freedom of spontaneous movement to the community. We research improvised movement methods to grow together and individually, finding new ways to explore space and time. We made our performative debut at Snapshots by Culpdid in March, presenting an improvisation score at Wandering Barman in Brooklyn.

5$M is passionate about sustainable and just art-making practices. We are dedicated to making work that imagines and creates equitable and empowered worlds. We are immersed in liberative practices of anti-racism, feminism, queer-expression, decolonization, sustainability, and accessibility. Through these lenses, we hold our process, work, and review to a standard that ensures our art doesn’t repeat tired and tasteless tropes of dominant culture narratives.
